Heating, Ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) Projects

Today the demands for control of the internal climate in buildings are beyond the simple solutions so far utilized. In – floor heating, mechanical ventilation, humidity control, ecological design, energy conservation requirements, solar systems etc. call for detailed design of any HVAC system.

The consultancy has undertaken numerous designs of HVAC systems and took part in the equipment selection stage so that the demands of the owner(s) were met. In most cases it also acted as owner’s supervisor for the HVAC contractor.

The HVAC projects undertaken by the consultancy stand out for their value and speed of execution.

End of a myth: Heating with heat pumps

Single family house of 200 sq.m. living space. Typical heat losses 30.000 kcal/h, central heating plant operating from October till March, consumption 30.000 / 0,85 = 35.294 kcal/h . Diesel oil consumption 3,5 kg/h = 26 kg/d, therefore total annual consumption 5.040 kg costing today 3.276€.

Using heat pumps (air conditioning) the necessary power is 12 KW, the necessary energy is 96 KWh/d, 17.280 KWh for all the period when heating is necessary. Therefore for the first 4 – month period the owner will be charged for 11.520 KWh and for the second 5.760 KWh. The cost as per domestic daily price tables of the Greek Public Power Company (DEI) is 2.526,77€ and 1.204,57€, VAT and all charges included. Therefore the total cost is 3.731,44€, about 14% more than Diesel, but for a much more advanced installation.

For smaller houses the difference is even smaller.

It can be argued that heat pumps do cost, but so does a central heating installation. Also, the heat pumps are used for cooling during the summer.
